Lauren's story is one of hope. From a place of grief, love was found in the comfort of a fuzzy little bear. In a small way, the Comfort Cub has filled a place in our hearts. Nothing can change the finality of loss. But healing can be found in the comfort of tomorrow. Lauren's Story is one of many and shows us how a little cub can bring peace, love, and comfort to someone dealing with a great loss in their life. "Holding a weighted bear is such a comfort and such a sense of peace and love."

Amanda's Story, as told by her Mother Missy, is story of hope for others and shows us how a little cub can bring peace and smiles to a group of friends that had to deal with the great loss in their lives.

When Trudi was introduced to the Comfort Cub and held it for the first time, it made her recall the time in her life when she was a teenager and gave her baby boy up for adoption.  She didn't have a chance to caress her baby, and her heart ached.  Years later she suffered a miscarriage and holding the cub, despite the time that had passed, was extremely comforting.  Trudi has reconnected with her son who is now an adult.

"This isn't just a bear, it felt like holding a baby."

According to the American Heart Association, "broken heart syndrome, also called stress-induced cardiomyopathy or Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy, can strike even if you're healthy." As Lenox Hill Hospital director of women's heart health told the New York Times, sudden loss can create "an overflow of stress hormones, and the heart can't take it.... the heart is literally stunned."
